Stan's Swiss Steak
Why I Love This Recipe
Ingredients You'll Need
2 pounds cubed steak
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon each of salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder
½ cup vegetable oil (may need more)
¾s of a large bottle (64-ounce) of ketchup (I prefer Hunts)
1 small bottle of Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
1 small onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
Directions
1. Place flour, salt, and cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in large
resealable plastic bag; mix well. Add steaks to bag and shake vigorously to coat well.
2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat; add a few steaks and brown on both sides. Repeat for
remaining steaks, adding more oil if needed. Add the remaining ingredients to the now empty Dutch oven
and mix well. Return the steaks to the Dutch oven, reduce heat to simmer, and add some water to thin the
liquid. Cover and cook for 2 to 2½ hours or until meat is tender, turning and adding more ketchup and
water as needed.
3. Serve over hot rice.
